Trump Launches “Shield of the Americas”, reshaping the global order
President Donald Trump hosted Latin American leaders in Miami to launch the Shield of the Americas, a new U.S.-led security initiative targeting drug cartels and expanding regional military cooperation. The summit brought together allies including Argentina, El Salvador, and Ecuador to form the Americas Counter-Cartel Coalition. While officials say the initiative aims to dismantle criminal networks, it also reflects Washington’s effort to counter China’s growing influence in Latin America.
