A teacher and his partner have been found guilty of causing the death of their adopted 13-month-old son. The small child is also alleged to have been subjected to rape.
Jamie Varley (37) was at Preston Crown Court on Monday found guilty of the murder of Preston Davey in July 2023. His cohabitee, John McGowan-Fazakerley (32), was convicted of allowing the child to die, according to The Times.
Varley is charged with murder, rape, sexual assaults, grievous bodily harm and ill-treatment. This is not the first time homosexual adoptive parents have been convicted of serious crimes against their children.

Preston Davey had no bright future ahead of him when he was born. His mother Sarah Davey was only 14 years old when she and a friend killed Lily Lilley (71) in the pensioner’s home in 1998 and dumped her body in the Rochdale Canal. She was in prison when Preston came into the world.
The father was out of the picture. He was a drug-addicted serial offender who was also in prison when his son was born, and he was therefore not listed on Preston’s birth certificate. Adoption appeared to be the only option.
The “rescue” came in the form of the foster parents Jamie Varley and John McGowan-Fazakerley. The homosexual couple – an experienced teacher and a successful sales manager – promised that they would give the child a safe life, far from his troubled biological parents.
Four months later, after a period of severe ill-treatment, Preston was dead, just 13 months old.
Social workers visited Preston at home several times before he died, but did not notice that he was being ill-treated and sustaining injuries. The post-mortem revealed more than 40 external and internal bruises, as well as injuries indicative of sexual abuse, writes The Telegraph.
Preston’s grandmother, Debbie Davey (66), who could no longer look after him after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, has accused the social services of failing to detect the abuse.
«I hate social services with all my heart. What they did was disgusting. One day the social worker called round and said she had just been to see Preston.
She said he had cried a bit and was tearful, but they [Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley] told her it was because he had just had his injections. She just took their word for it.
Concerns had been reported from the hospital at least twice, but nothing was done. He had been to the hospital several times, and the hospital had reported it, but no one went to see them and check on Preston. It is disgusting.»
