The premiere of a new nationwide tour featuring three of Sweden’s most high-profile public commentators has been canceled after Folkets Hus terminated the agreement — citing its “core values”. The organizers claim the decision is politically motivated and accuse the political left of attempting to silence critical voices ahead of the upcoming election.
A planned tour premiere featuring three of Sweden’s most prominent public commentators — Henrik Jönsson, Aron Flam, and Jan Emanuel Johansson — has been canceled after Folkets Hus (The Peoples House) in Borlänge chose to terminate the contract and stop the opening event. The tour, marketed under the name “Saving Sweden – 100% Live on the Road” is described as a live show focusing on social issues and Sweden’s future ahead of the 2026 election.
The initiative is organized by the media platform 100%, an alternative to traditional media and public service broadcasting launched by Henrik Jönsson last year. The platform combines social commentary, interviews, humor, and opinion journalism featuring profiles such as Henrik Jönsson, Aron Flam, and Jan Emanuel Johansson.
Henrik Jönsson is known as a commentator and media personality focusing on politics, culture, and criticism of established institutions. Aron Flam is a comedian, author, and podcaster, among other things known for the podcast “Dekonstruktiv kritik (Deconstructive Criticism). Jan Emanuel Johansson is an entrepreneur and former Social Democratic member of the Swedish parliament.
Terminates the contract — citing “core values”
The trio’s tour was scheduled to begin on June 5 with a show at Folkets Hus in Borlänge, a venue that had been rented since April. Nearly 250 tickets had already been sold, the organizers had obtained a permit to serve alcohol, and even created a special beer for the event. But with just over a week remaining before the premiere, Folkets Hus chose to terminate the contract.
“After a closer review of the content of the event, we have concluded that it does not fit within our association venue”, wrote Pia-Lena Andersson, chairperson of Folkets Hus in Borlänge.
Andersson argues that the event and the three commentators may conflict with “the association’s core values and respect for the fundamental principles of equality, gender equality, and equal human value”.
“A pretext”
Henrik Jönsson, however, suspects the decision is political.
“It sounds like a pretext. Most likely this is about politics. Folkets Hus is controlled by the labor movement. It’s an election year, and we are the left’s worst nightmare. Of course they want to censor us”, says Henrik Jönsson.
Those who purchased tickets will receive refunds, and Henrik Jönsson wrote on Facebook:
“The left in Borlänge has stopped our tour premiere and, nine days before our first show, broken its contract with us regarding the venue — citing its core values. However, we will still come to Borlänge on June 5 to hold an open public meeting and debate — and we also invite the left that is trying to stop us!”
