The Progress Party demands a halt to family reunification for unaccompanied minors. They perceive a pattern whereby unaccompanied minors obtain reunification for extended families. The Conservative Party (Høyre) states that it stands close to the same position.
There are two countries that recur: Syria and Afghanistan.
It is not uncommon for the unaccompanied minor to have eight siblings. Such extended families require substantial resources from the municipalities.
But the Labour Party reserves itself against a restriction of unaccompanied minors’ right to family reunification. The party refers to asylum seekers’ human rights.
