Better wifi, more money and private rooms are some of the demands of the migrants who have been demonstrating outside their hotel accommodation in an exclusive residential area of central London since Thursday.
The forty migrants from Bangladesh, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq and Somalia threaten to sleep on the pavement until their demands are met.
£184/night three star hotel
The group of adult men, who have mainly entered the UK illegally via the English Channel, barricaded the entrance to the £184/night three-star Pimlico Comfort Inn in protest at what they see as abusive conditions from British authorities.
Before we were moved to this hotel, we checked the location on Google Maps, and it looked fine. But this is like a prison and they treat us like animals. We are not children, we all had a private room and you need that, says a 26-year-old African man.

Do not live up to the human traffickers’ advertising
The UK Home Office has tried to ease the financial burden of the large influx of migrants by reducing the cost and number of hotels. The bill that is distributed to British taxpayers amounts to six million pounds or just over NOK 82 million per year. day.
We see on TikTok that human traffickers advertise their own hotel rooms, says a government source to The Telegraph. – But if they do not accept the home, we can withdraw the support. The accommodation is of a decent standard and meets all legal and contractual requirements.
Vulnerable group
Adam Hug, who last year became the first Labor leader of Westminster City Council, complained to Home Affairs Minister Suella Braverman that a vulnerable group had been moved to the borough.
We are very concerned to see a number of refugees on the street without a safe and welcoming place to live.
