Russia’s Ministry of the Interior has issued an arrest warrant for Senator Lindsey Graham (R) following statements the US senator made about the war in Ukraine.
NTB-AP reports on the case.
On Friday, Graham met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. In an edited video released by Zelenskyi’s staff after the meeting, Graham says that “the Russians are dying” and that the military support for Ukraine is “the best thing we’ve ever spent money on.”
The two statements apparently came in different parts of the conversation, but in the video they appear right after each other, which has caused anger on the Russian side.
It is hard to imagine a greater shame for a country than having such senators, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday.
Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has declared an arrest warrant.
Graham himself writes on Twitter that he is “immensely pleased that my support for Ukraine is teasing Putin’s regime”.
I will continue to support Ukraine’s freedom until all Russian soldiers are expelled from Ukraine’s territory. I will wear the arrest warrant from Putin’s corrupt and immoral government as a badge of honour, writes Graham.

Graham visited Kyiv for the third time after the invasion. He is calling on the Biden regime to increase support for Ukraine by supplying F-16 fighter jets and long-range weapons.
During the meeting with Zelenskyj, the senator said that “Russians are dying…” and it is “the best money we have ever spent”, reports the Independent.
He is also said to have said that the US must take control of Ukraine, to prevent China from taking over.
The Sun has published a video of the conversation. However, it is known that the video has been edited, so the context is unclear.
