There is a shadow war going on between Trump and DeSantis. DeSantis chose to challenge Trump in Kentucky, where a candidate for governor was to be chosen. At the last minute, DeSantis jumped in on behalf of former UN ambassador Kelly Craft, while Trump backed Daniel Cameron, who is the state’s attorney general.
DeSantis issued a statement of support in which he said it was important to put the past behind him in order to win, a clear kick to Trump.
“We must reject the culture of losing that has impacted our party in recent years. The time for excuses is over,” DeSantis said. “If we get distracted, if we focus the election on the past or on other side issues, then I think the Democrats are going to beat us again.”
But it was Trump’s candidate who won convincingly, with over 30 percent ahead of Craft, who only came in a humiliating third place.
Camerons triumph,
“Of course, a big thank you to President Donald J. Trump for his support and his endorsement of this campaign,” Cameron said before adding, “Let me just say: The Trump culture of winning is alive and well in Kentucky.”
This loss came inconveniently for DeSantis, who is likely to declare his candidacy at any moment.
