17 May still makes Norwegians’ hearts skip a beat. Norwegians are romantic about nature and that is an inseparable part of our national being. It is ours! No place on earth is more beautiful and no one can take that away from us.

For a long time, the anti-nationals have tried to put the nation-state in a corner of shame. This has had several inflows. Consider the labour movement in the interwar period, it was international, not national. This changed during the war and when Norway finally fell on the western side.

But the outcome is never given, the future is never guaranteed. The government faltered.

One thing we have learned: A lot of strange things can be hidden behind pretty words. “International solidarity” can mean supporting Palestinian terror and importing tens of thousands of people who dilute the people and dissolve the community.

This is one of the authorities’ and the political system’s most vulnerable points: People see what they see, it cannot be hidden.

But they may try to discipline us. Some allow themselves to be disciplined, others are more stubborn. It is also a Norwegian characteristic – not to obey. When I was young there was a virtue on the left. Now the left has become loyal to authority and conformist.

You can be rebellious according to a pre-approved pattern, propagated by NRK. In fact, breaking the norm is not rebellious, it is nihilistic.

To be rebellious today is to be conservative, searching, sceptical of attempts to impose new identities on us. If you notice an authoritative and commanding hand behind the pretty words, you should be on your guard. All that glitters is not gold.

Today, the West is exposed to a revolution from above, and Norway is fully involved in this. We want to be the smartest boy in the class. But large sections of the population are sceptical and many want to give up. We manage well on our own. We would like to be masters of our own homes.

We have no measurements of how many there are, but I sense that it is a growing tendency, certain things are dawning on people: It is possible to lose one’s country. It can happen right in front of your eyes and you shouldn’t beat it.

But we know! Our ideals are taken from history, from our faith and Norwegian folklore. I found! I found!

Not far from here stood Eidsivating. Today, Norwegians meet for an imaginary “thing”. We are present where the Norwegian spirit exists. It must be strengthened every single day, it’s not something we bring up once a year. Norway must be confirmed and grow every day in order to have a future.

We have experienced this on trips around to the local teams: An awakening awareness of ringing “ours”.

Norwegians are a small tribe and only Norwegians can keep it alive. The land is there and will endure, but who will rule it?

even we, when it is demanded,
for its peace will encamp (for defence).

That is the big question. How many are willing to camp and what will they fight for? Just to ask the question today is to join the ranks of the dissenters. It will be unthinkable to ask if we don’t also have the right to defend our own.

This is what is in Ida Auken’s words: You should not own anything and you will be happy.

But Norwegians are not like that. We want our own, we want to be Norwegians and we don’t intend to ask anyone for permission.

It pleases me to see that more and more people fall on the right side. Those who honour their mother and their father and seek blessing over their own life, country and people.

Congratulations on the national day!

See below a translation of our national anthem

Yes, we love this country
as it rises forth,
rugged, weathered, over the water,
with the thousands of homes, —
love, love it and think
of our father and mother
and the saga-night that lays
dreams upon our earth.

Norwegian man in house and cabin,
thank your great God!
The country he wanted to protect,
although things looked dark.
All the fights fathers have fought,
and the mothers have wept,
the Lord has quietly eased
so we won our rights.

Yes, we love this country
as it rises forth,
rugged, weathered, above the sea,
with those thousand homes.
And as the fathers’ struggle has raised
it from need to victory,
even we, when it is demanded,
for its peace will encamp (for defence).
