It was foreseeable – as I predicted – that the so-called French student protests would spread abroad. This has now happened, as the unrest has reached Belgium and led to widespread destruction.
The other day, 110 people were arrested in Brussels following violent unrest. And just as in France, people from the extreme, fascist left have been quick to jump on the bandwagon, including, amongst others, black-clad, professional street thugs from Antifa who claim to be anti-fascist, but who are probably the closest thing today to Hitler’s and Mussolini’s uniformed thug squads.
As Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin has explained to the Belgian Parliament, ‘Antifa has infiltrated the student movement and encouraged it to resort to violence. […] Adults are manipulating children to convey political messages through violence.’
Just as in France, Belgian trade unions have also joined the fray, in protest against the government’s attempts to reduce the country’s budget deficit and its enormous debt, which currently stands at 110 per cent of GDP. This is virtually impossible without social cuts, which the trade unions will not accept.
Once again, we see the same pattern that has affected several other European countries, including the UK: the economy is barely growing. The population, on the other hand, is increasing as a result of unproductive immigration from the Third World.
More people must therefore share relatively fewer resources, and one need not be an economist to realise that the system will sooner or later collapse – namely when it is no longer possible to squeeze more taxes out of workers or take on more debt at ever-rising interest rates. However, in keeping with French and Belgian historical traditions, the trade unions pay no heed to the national economy and refuse to agree to austerity measures.
Recently, the nationalist MP Filip Dewinter announced that he had been attacked by a group of Moroccans who had recognised him on the street. “The Moroccans feel all-powerful and have turned Antwerp into an occupied and Islamised city,” says Dewinter, adding that the Moroccans use violence to intimidate anyone who does not accept the new order.
What government can withstand a coordinated attack from so many quarters – from student activists, organised fascists, trade unions and Muslims?
