Pedro Sánchez announces a snap election following massive demonstrations against the housing crisis. This crisis has been caused by immigration and tourism, which are driving ordinary people out of the rental market, just as in other major European cities. There is thus a link between immigration and deteriorating living conditions, which more and more people are beginning to realise.
The situation came to a head when 70,000 people stormed the enclave of Ceuta and Sánchez showed little willingness to sort things out.
Sánchez has been able to remain in power because he relies on the support of Catalan separatists.
He will most likely lose the election.
