As Islam becomes increasingly visible in the United States, criticism of the political dogma has been clear and vocal. Some of the most vocal critics are black Americans. It may be an unintended consequence of the left’s and the Democrats’ embrace of Islam that they probably did not see coming.
Ordinary people, political commentators, politicians, pastors and even comedians among black Americans have begun to speak out. We shall take a closer look at three prominent black Americans who have chosen to push back against Islam.
Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, comedian and entrepreneur Terrence K. Williams and political commentator David J. Harris Jr. are such voices. They represent millions of followers, not only black people, but Americans from all walks of life, who do not want Islam or a Muslim takeover of their country.
As Pastor Lorenzo Sewell said in a recent speech in Dearborn: – You make up only 1 per cent of this nation. We are not a nation of Muslims, we are a nation of Christians.
Abdul El-Sayed plays the Africa card
But it is not only prominent black Americans who are resisting Islam. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, the Democrats’ candidate for the Senate, has discovered that he does not automatically have black voters behind him either.
This became particularly clear in Wayne County, the state’s most populous county, where Detroit is located and nearly 40 per cent of the population is black. El-Sayed previously served as the county’s health director, but nevertheless lost the county to Haley Stevens by 45.4 to 51.3 per cent, a difference of around 17,300 votes.
When asked how he would respond to black voters who do not support him, El-Sayed highlighted his own African background, without directly answering why black voters are sceptical. Political analyst Irina Tsukerman called the response clumsy because black Americans and African immigrants can have very different political experiences.
Keep them in chains
In recent times, the left and Muslims have found each other in a strange symbiotic relationship. They do not have much in common, apart from a shared hatred of the West and America, and, of course, Israel.
Could it be that black Americans gradually became a well-used voter group that the left took for granted, and that they have therefore looked around for new groups to champion? New ‘victims’ to fight for?
The Democrats have used black Americans for several decades. They have enticed them with promise after promise and succeeded in making them their most loyal voter group. They have tailored their policies to secure their votes. Then they turn their backs on them and do little for them, while continuing to keep them in chains, or keep them in chains, as the expression goes.
The Democrats may once have had good intentions, but today’s party is not Grandma and Grandpa’s party. Black Americans remain one of the party’s most loyal voter groups, but the Democrats now risk taking this loyalty for granted.
A new and perfect example is New York’s Muslim mayor, Zohran Mamdani, who received support from around half of black voters. He promised everything, but what do they actually get in return? Black New Yorkers, too, have buyer’s remorse and regret their choice. Their voices against Mamdani are growing ever louder.
During Joe Biden’s presidency, we saw black Americans react strongly to the city spending large resources on illegal immigrants. Their own neighbourhoods are left behind with crime, poor schools and dilapidated streets.
We are not a nation of Muslims …
So the Democrats have several problems with their loyal voters, but what is the party to do about the black Muslim problem? Will it have an impact on the midterm elections and the coming presidential elections?
Only time will tell. But if outspoken voices such as Pastor Lorenzo Sewell continue to speak out, the Democrats may have a serious problem on their hands.
Sewell’s speech in Dearborn may be the best and most passionate speech against Islam and sharia ever delivered in a Western country, at least in America. The two-minute speech is translated in full at the bottom of the article.

What began as an ordinary city council meeting in Dearborn developed into a confrontation over Muslim influence. Pastor Lorenzo Sewell accused the city of being subject to sharia law.
The outburst came amid a series of protests against Islam in Dearborn. Sewell believes Muslim communities are attempting to shape the local community according to a religious worldview that conflicts with American values.
– You make up only one per cent of this nation. We are not a nation of Muslims, Sewell said.
When Sewell speaks of sharia law, he is reacting to what he believes is preferential treatment of Muslims under the guise of religious freedom.
Sewell and other critics of Dearborn have particularly highlighted the incident in which activist Jake Lang was attacked by Muslim counter-demonstrators.
In a video, Lang is struck from behind while holding a sign reading ‘deport 100 million, save America’.
According to Fox News, one person was arrested after the clash, while Wayne County prosecutors considered further charges.
Sewell nevertheless believes that this demonstrates a form of unequal treatment.
– You are not under American law. You are under sharia law. That is why you have not made any arrests, he said.
They called me islamophobic …
Terrence K. Williams is a comedian, entrepreneur and conservative commentator. He has a large following on social media, with almost five million followers on Facebook alone.
As Islam becomes more visible in the United States, the voices are becoming louder. Over the past year, hardly a day has gone by without Williams posting something about Islam. He posted this one at the time of writing.
Most often, his posts concern striking news stories about the advance of Islam in the West and the United States.
At other times, he simply uses his platform to offer his own reflections
Ban on dogs at airports?
David J. Harris Jr. is a conservative political commentator, author and presenter. He has been an outspoken Trump supporter and uses his platform to comment on American politics, culture and issues relating to Islam and immigration.
In the clip below, Harris Jr. talks about how they are watching Islam’s ever-growing influence in the United States, and highlights the case of the planned ritual washing stations for Muslims at Dallas Fort Worth Airport, which Document also wrote about.
He believes we must begin asking the serious questions: Where does this end?
We must stand up for common sense, he says. Muslims do not like dogs. What happens if we have a guide dog or service dog with us at the airport? Are they then going to say: – Wait a minute, we can’t have dogs at the airport?
Muslims do not like bacon. Are they then going to start saying that airports cannot sell bacon?
And so it continues.
Norway has had its own problems with dogs and Islam, the most shocking being the stories of blind people who have been refused taxis by Muslim drivers, such as Geir Ålien.
And while we are on the subject of bacon: One of Terrence K. Williams Jr.’s most popular sketches is about Muslims and bacon.
I checked AI to find out what the Muslim man was crying about, and Grok said that the man was holding a press conference after an incident at the University of South Florida in November 2025.
Three men disrupted Muslim students’ morning prayers, shouted derogatory comments and waved bacon directly in their faces. The tears came when he had to watch the video and relive the entire incident.
Perhaps the man and others who wish to transform our countries into societies in their own image could try putting themselves in the position of men such as Geir Ålien.
They will not.
But the positive thing is that ordinary and prominent black Americans are now beginning to speak out. This will make the criticism more visible and create a major dilemma for the Democrats.
But knowing them, they are unlikely to listen. They will continue to facilitate and accommodate the growing Muslim population.
Nevertheless, criticism from black Americans will become increasingly difficult to ignore. Especially when it comes from voices such as Pastor Lorenzo Sewell.

My name is Pastor Lorenzo Sewell. I have the honour and privilege of being the senior pastor of 180 Church, where President Donald Trump visited in connection with his birthday.
That was where I had the opportunity to pray for the President. And it was at that moment that he told me that I would pray at the inauguration and that I would be allowed to preach at the rededication.
The reason I am here today is that in Dearborn, with all your prosperity and everything you have done, Hubbard’s spirit still lives in this city. The spirit of racism still rests over this city.
This is a city that has flourished with your mosques and your call to prayer. And yet it is at the expense of my people. It is on the backs of my people, on the backs of black people, that we have funded everything you do.
You look down on us, and your police use their power against us. And when Jake Lang spoke about Jesus, he was assaulted.
Because you are not subject to American law. You are subject to sharia law. That is why you have not made any arrests.
You have three generations of racism in this very city. You know it. You have seen what has happened in this city. And it is my people who have funded you. It is my people who have made sure that you have what you have.
And you spit on us. You demean us.
But you make up only 1 per cent of this nation. We are not a nation of Muslims, we are a nation of Christians. We are one nation under God, indivisible, under the God of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is the God I want you to prove to me.
Will you condemn Council Member O’Reilly? Will you condemn sharia law?
Sharia law. Will you condemn sharia law?
I know you won’t.
Will you condemn sharia law? Say it out loud. Well, you did. I know you won’t.
Will you condemn sharia law? Abraham. Did you go to Hillsdale? Will you condemn sharia law?
America, we have lost this city. This is a city that is no longer subject to American law. It is subject to sharia law, and we will not have that any longer.
