DNB’s chief executive earned 18.7 million kroner in 2025, reports NTB – a salary increase of 10.65 per cent from 16.9 million in 2024.
By comparison, the annual salary of Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre was 2.1 million kroner.
Last year was also a good year for the bank:
The bank recorded a profit of 53.4 billion kroner before tax, down from 54.9 billion in 2024, but up from 50.4 billion in 2023.
Return on equity was 15.9 per cent for the year, and earnings per share were 28.45 kroner.
Braathen’s generous private finances stand in stark contrast to the statement she gave to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2022, where she said that “we” must accept that the energy transition will entail pain, energy shortages and inflationary pressure. She herself is hardly lying awake at night because of a high electricity bill.
The DNB chief added that perhaps we must begin to speak about it, that the pain is worth it – and that the alternative would almost be the end of the world.
She has apparently not spoken much more about it since 2022.
