What happened, had to happen: The amount of encroachment on Western free speech is directly proportional to the number of Muslims, and if you look closely, you will find that the suppression of opinion is rooted in the growing influence of Islam. You cannot openly pave the way for massive Islamic immigration and expect citizens to retain the right to say what they want.
The EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) of 2023 is the most visible consequence of this legality. The purpose of the DSA is to control content on social media and websites with the intention of banning statements that are defined as “illegal” or “harmful”. It is, of course, the European Commission that decides what is harmful.
And we’re not talking about vague declarations of intent, but about hard power. This was evident during the 2024 US election campaign, when Elon Musk announced that he intended to do an interview on X with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. In response, EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton threatened X with fines if the interview contained “illegal content”.
Elon Musk refused to bow to the EU’s threats and conducted the interview, and the EU responded by fining X €120 million (approximately $140 million). That should teach him a lesson. The rest of us can learn the same lesson if we happen to say something that the Soviet-style EU Central Committee finds offensive and dangerous to its exercise of power.
The real reason for the Commission’s draconian measures is that society is becoming divided between groups that are so incompatible that no compromise is possible. When that happens, this antagonistic struggle for survival becomes the very foundation of all politics. Whatever politicians think of doing, they must constantly consider what reactions it might trigger in the parallel Muslim community.
This means, of course, that it becomes dangerous to allow citizens to express themselves freely. The only people who truly enjoy freedom of expression in the brave new West are those groups – or should we call them tribes or clans – who are willing to stir up trouble and, if necessary, resort to violence to get their way.
That’s why the EU has imposed the DSA on us. People shouldn’t be allowed to express their opinions on sensitive issues such as mass immigration, Islam, parallel societies, street violence, the poor state of democracy or the right of indigenous peoples to have a country. It could excite the followers of Allah, whom politicians and bureaucrats have spent decades mobilising. They did this in the expectation that these culturally alien people would become their grateful voting cattle and help them retain power. But it’s like adopting a cute little tiger. You can pet and cuddle it until the day it suddenly eats you.
This argument could be countered by the fact that Western European countries have previously been haunted by irreconcilable ideologies – after the Second World War between supporters of democracy and supporters of communism. In several countries – led by France and Italy – communist parties were a powerful force to be reckoned with well into the 1970s. But the official communist parties never physically attacked media they disagreed with. Nor did they demand that the state suppress opinions they didn’t like. For the most part, the ideological fronts agreed to fight the battle within the framework of civil liberties.
All this has changed with the increasing fraternisation between the “Marxists” and Islam. Today, these constitute a formidable red-green alliance that Western governments and bureaucracies dare not challenge, because they know what awaits them if they try. Therefore, the state must first gradually – and later abruptly – allow itself to be Islamised and accept sharia as the actual legal basis.
With the partial exception of the United States, we see no Western government daring to recognise the unimaginable danger that threatens the West’s centuries-old culture and social structure – much less do anything about it. Every day brings new knee-jerk reactions in favour of Islam – aided and abetted by the left, which has forgotten what happened to the Iranian communists who enthusiastically welcomed Ayatollah Khomeini.
Where can one find hope when all the institutions of society have ganged up against freedom and are dancing to the tune of Allah.
