The looting and vandalism in France have been disastrous for the country. In Marseille alone, it was estimated that at least 30,000 people actively took part in the looting, and that 8,000 were rioters. They looted around 500 shops in Marseille. The riots in France did indeed start with student demonstrations, but quickly turned into something entirely different.
Jean-Luc Chauvin, president of the Marseille Chamber of Commerce and Industry, describes the destruction with clear despair:
– We have witnessed scenes reminiscent of civil war, and these were not demonstrators. Shopkeepers have lost everything. It is worse than the riots following Nahel’s death in 2023. On that occasion, 300 shops were looted. Now it seems there are far more, says a visibly shaken Chauvin.
– We will fight to rebuild everything that has been destroyed, but some will never manage to get back on their feet, and others will leave the country. I am sickened with revulsion.
Many shopkeepers tried to defend their shops, but to no avail. Some were also attacked by the mobs that stormed them.
This is being described as the worst riots in decades. And further “protests” are planned for this coming Saturday.
Among the many videos, one in particular – of a young woman who cannot quite take in what is happening – illustrated how many French people reacted. She is standing outside a Franprix shop, trying to stop the thieves from entering the shop.
We can see the shock and disappointment on her face at the fact that developments in her country are heading in the wrong direction. Many French people have woken up to the harsh reality of what uncontrolled immigration entails.

In Nice, a shopkeeper was kicked to the ground after his shop had been looted:
And it doesn’t matter if you’re an Indian shopkeeper:
The police were unable to prevent luxury shops in the centre of Paris from being looted in broad daylight. But McDonald’s, florists and local shops also suffered the same fate. And this happened in many towns and cities across the country.

The first round of the French presidential election is on 18 April 2027.
Fdsouche has many videos of the looting.
