President Donald Trump has once again emphasised his hard line against the killing of Muslims and the use of violence. He warns in no uncertain terms: ‘The killing of Christians is NOT going to happen.’
This is described as a ‘declaration of global war on radical Islam’, but behind the dramatic wording lies concrete policy as well. The Trump administration has already carried out military strikes against IS-affiliated groups due to their systematic attacks on Christians in Nigeria. It has also launched a counter-terrorism strategy against al-Qaeda and parts of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The US has also designated Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ due to the country’s deteriorating religious freedom.
Trump has repeatedly emphasised that the US will not tolerate massacres of Christian communities, and the rhetoric is clear: those who harm Americans or Christians, or plan to do so, will be found and neutralised.
