Zelensky honours unit that killed 100,000 Poles during the War; Diplomatic crisis erupts

Kyiv is aware that the outside world reacts negatively to its glorification of military units and use of symbols dating back to the Second World War. The Azov Brigade employs Nazi symbols such as the Wolfsangel. Yet Zelenskyy has now named a special unit the Heroes of the UPA, after a Ukrainian force that killed 100,000 Poles and a number of Jews in western Ukraine during the Second World War. He did this as recently as May this year.
