Yet another episode in Spain’s corruption wave: Police raid on Socialist Party HQ

On Wednesday 27 May, elite agents from the Guardia Civil entered the Spanish Socialist Party’s national headquarters. This is the latest in a long series of scandals that have hit Pedro Sánchez and his inner circle. Sánchez downplays the operation, stressing “full cooperation” and claiming that the party is squeaky clean and “has nothing to hide”. Early elections are rejected with reference to the need for “political and economic stability”.
